Celebrating International Women's Day

Another day to mark and celebrate the efforts, struggles, challenges and successes of women around the world is here again. Friday 8th March 2013 is International Women's Day (IWD). The theme for this year's IWD celebration is: "A promise is a promise: Time for action to end violence against women”. 

The United Nations will on this day, amongst other activities planned, launch the first ever UN system song titled "one woman". This event will be launched with a musical celebration of women around the world and will also feature more than 20 artists from around the world. Sounds quite interesting...i will be sharing the link to the song here after it is launched for those interested :-)

Different organizations during this period will be organizing events to celebrate and appreciate women. Feel free to also share with us through this blog what your organization is planning or activities you were involved in for the IWD. 

Please, always show the women in your life and every other woman some love. Like 'Shaggy', the Jamaican artist sang, 'never underestimate the strength of a woman' :-)
