Leadership Programme: Do
you want to participate in Europe’s largest forum on development? Do you want
to have a say in the debates that shape development policy? Apply to the Future
Leaders Programme to be selected to travel to European Development Days 2015 in
Brussels!
In
the framework of the European Development Days 2015, the European Commission
has launched the Future Leaders Programme. Young leaders playing
an
active role in the fight against poverty or involved in innovative projects to
address global challenges in their community are invited to apply for the
Programme and get the chance to win an invitation to the 2015 edition of
European Development Days, taking place in Brussels, Belgium on 3-4 June.
As
a future leader, you will speak in the auditorium panel discussions, along with
key political leaders, and have the opportunity to present your story to the
audience, engaging with the delegations of governments and international
organisations. Prior and during the forum, the future leader will have the
opportunity to visit the European institutions, meet relevant development
policy-makers and present practices from their regions.
Eligibility
Applications
are open to young adults aged 21-26 from all around the world, without
restriction of nationality. Applications must be submitted in one of the
following official European Commission languages: English / French /
Spanish / German / Portuguese. The candidate must be able to speak clearly and
comprehensively in one of these languages. Passive translation will be provided
if necessary during EDD15 for those languages.
Costs
The 12
finalists will be invited to speak alongside key political leaders at EDD15 in
Brussels and all costs will be covered.
Application
Interested
candidates should apply online after registering HERE. The application
process will involve three key stages:
A profile
stage, where you will be asked to fill in personal details and submit a
Curriculum Vitae detailing your skills, with special emphasis on leadership and
public speaking skills. You will be required to present yourself and your
engagement, in a short 2min video and explain why you are a good representative
for your chosen topic.
A leadership
stage, where you will be asked to state which group or organisation you will be
representing during EDD15.
An involvement
stage, where you will be asked to submit up to two examples of active
commitment to a cause related to your topic of choice.
The
deadline for applications is 18 March 2015.
